Training is essential for the progress and development of any individual. At UCMAS, we believe in constant upgradation of knowledge, skills & techniques.
UCMAS is a technical program and it’s important that the faculties are trained on the techniques and groomed on the classroom management skills so that they are equipped to conduct a UCMAS class effectively. Our training methods for our students are also improvised periodically so that UCMAS children can get the most out of the program by having fun, interactive and engaging classes.
Our pursuit towards enhancing our training methods ensure higher quality and skills of our faculties as well as students.
UCMAS technique uses the UC tool – the abacus; which trains students to develop their brain and gives them a unique way to do fast calculation, students are trained on the finger technique and formulas with which they work on the book pages using the physical as well as mental abacus. UCMAS provides an enriching classroom group session to all students.
The 2-hour classroom is divided into different fun activities using the flash cards, numbers and listening exercises which will enhance the VAT Learning- Visual Auditory and Tactile Learning. Students earn and collect points as a group or individually for their participation and performance which creates a fulfilled energetic and competitive learning environment for the students
A successful life is built upon successful habit. Good work habits, discipline is an essential attribute to the personality development of a child and would help them to achieve great success in life. Habit formation is a process which is formed during the early learning years of a child and would require consistent reinforcement. The 3 to 4 years of training at UCMAS helps children to develop regular work habits as students are given daily home assignments for 15 to 20 minutes. At UCMAS with the point system we create a positive reinforcement of work & study habits like punctuality, regularity, uniformity (wearing UCMAS t-shirt) which builds up the necessary discipline to equip them to the rigorous work involved in future.
UCMAS culture encourages students to be a part of and experience the different platform of competition and exams which develops competitive spirit, time management skills, analyze and evaluate outcomes and uncover personal aptitude.
Competition – UCMAS offers opportunity to all their students to be a part of a huge competition where they compete with thousands of students and are given a chance to showcase their talent. Competition teaches the importance of regularity, hard work, dedication and time management skills as students are expected to complete 200 questions in 8 minutes which requires intense practice.
IGE – International Grading Exam are offered to all UCMAS student to be a part of international exam which prepares them to compete globally and accept new and greater challenges in life and explore more opportunities to acquire credentials for abacus learning.
At UCMAS we require our course instructors (CIs) to volunteer for minimum 4 classes, so that they can observe and experience a typical UCMAS class, and understand the expectations of the job. This prepares them to absorb the technical training, which is offered later at the HO.
There are 8 levels in the UCMAS program and the CI has to be trained for each level gradually. The technical training for level 1 & 2 involves 12 to 15 hours each divided into two days. A gap of 2 to 3 months is required between each level training to ensure that the CI has had hands on experience for the level trained. At the end of each level training, the CI is expected to complete a level assessment where she is tested on her technical skills.
Once the CI has acquired the technical and classroom management skills she is supported and guided in the actual class by the center representative or the HO technical personnel. During this training, the CI is assisted with the tips to manage a practical scenario of a UCMAS class.
CIs are throughout monitored and mentored at the center by the center mentor or the technical head with tips to improve in various areas of management and teaching.
At UCMAS we organize an annual conference where the entire team of UCMAS: HO, Franchises & CI get-together and discuss about the company, its growth and development strategies.
CIs are tested on their technical skills and are required to appear and pass the International Grading Exam (IGE) an international standardised testing system which is set by the international headquarters in Malaysia and (Global Abacus Mental Arithmetic Association (GAMAA)
Workshops are organized by the HO for trained CIs to refresh and update the techniques. These workshops open a forum for CIs to discuss their issues and seek solutions for the same. We have case studies of different seniors and tips to handle these situations. Role playing is a common and effective way to understand the concerns faced on the job. This brings confidence in the team players and gives them an idea to deal with the day to day challenges of the job.
